Torn Label Brewing website

Torn Label Brewing website

Torn Label Brewing, nestled in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District, uniquely embodies the neighborhood’s artistic essence. Collaborating with local artists, it crafts captivating beers in two distinct spaces. Lagom Design rebuilt their website, focusing on their brand and driving in-person visits. The layout showcases hours, events and tap lists, enhancing user experience. Built on WordPress, the site offers seamless updates for menus and events. Dynamic design elements mirror the brewery’s creative flair. The outcome? A stunning, functional site boosting foot traffic, sales, and event bookings, aligning perfectly with Torn Label’s vibrant brand and community spirit.

KC Oktoberfest website

KC Oktoberfest website

Naturally, a brewery focused on German-style beer bier should host an Oktoberfest. As the popularity of KC Bier Company’s annual event soared beyond the confines of their Bierhalle and Biergarten, they moved their tents to Crown Center, near downtown Kansas City. And when the needs of the event outgrew a single page on their website, KC Bier turned to Lagom Design to create a custom website for KC Oktoberfest. Now the event draws well over 10,000 people each year.

We integrated the event’s branding – which changes each year – into the custom-built site. Leaning on the secure and flexible WordPress CMS, updates to the schedule, entertainers, and vendors is a snap. Capturing the essence of the festivities, a vibrant photo gallery showcases the lively spirit of Oktoberfest, highlighting the joyous moments of music, food, and, of course, bier, that define this beloved annual tradition.

Missouri Craft Brewers Guild packaging

Missouri Craft Brewers Guild packaging

Our latest packaging project for the Missouri Craft Brewers Guild features a series of four dynamic beer cans, each a testament to unity and innovation within the brewing community. The 2023 Missouri Loves Company collaboration series was the first to adhere to a theme, each release was an IPA. We embraced this opportunity to craft a cohesive design, drawing inspiration from the driving flavors of IPAs: hops. Cascading rings of hop cones and vines dance in psychedelic spirals around the center. Each IPA in the series boasts a similar design, brilliantly reimagined in a spectrum of hues. Join us in raising a toast to community, creativity, and making a difference, one refreshing can at a time.

Kansas City Bier Co. website

Kansas City Bier Co. website

The Kansas City Bier Company turned to Lagom Design when their original, template-based website was not keeping up with their growth or property reflecting their brand. We worked with their marketing team to design and construct a website that embraced their need for easy updates with beer releases, special events, and brewery news. The website has naturally flexed as KC Bier expanded into a brewery reaching across all of Missouri and Kansas. We organized the photography and copywriting to keep the end result unified in tone and visuals.

City Barrel Brewing branding

City Barrel Brewing branding

City Barrel Brewing opened in the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City in 2018 with a full kitchen and much fanfare around their hip space and exciting beers. The owners turned to Lagom Design to construct the initial visual brand for their brewery and restaurant. We listened to their vision of the business and created a cohesive set of brand assets to kick off their launch.

KC Craft Beer Week branding and website

KC Craft Beer Week branding and website

Kansas City Craft Beer Week 2017 brought together a series of events at dozens of breweries, craft-beer focused bars and restaurants. The committee, made up of volunteers from marketing teams at these businesses, selected Lagom Design to design a brand for the ten-day event.

We created the “beerdie”, a shuttlecock of grain and hops as the symbol of all that is craft beer in the region. Supporting artwork for coasters, tees, and glassware were also produced. We designed and developed a custom website where businesses could securely add their own events, keeping with the theme of community and collaboration.

Wilderness Brewing branding

Wilderness Brewing branding

Wilderness Brewing Company was the first brewery in Kansas City to successfully crowd-source their start-up funding. What happened after their Go Fund Me campaign … that’s another story.

But before that, Wilderness tapped Lagom Design to create a brand for their beers. We worked with their team to create a series of interchangeable logos, each with a strong hand pointing the way toward great beer holding different glassware, to reference their plan to continually change their offering. The logos were supported by patterns, graphics, and and other elements that could be used to build merchandise and other uses.

Like all their other supporters, we are still waiting on Lagom Öl, a Swedish-inspired farmhouse ale, with spruce tips.

When the Covid pandemic kept the Missouri Brewers Guild from holding a beer festival in 2020, they began to brainstorm other ways to earn money for the organization to carry on their work of advocating for independent craft breweries at the state and federal level. What they landed on was a collaboration beer created by 22 of their member breweries with the support of nine corporate sponsors. The beer, a hazy IPA named Missouri Loves Company, was sold in four-packs only from the breweries involved in the collaboration. At most of those establishments, a few social media posts spread among their devoted craft beer drinkers like wildfire, and it sold out the first day.

While most of the label design is in a blue and silver palette, reflecting the grey sky and frozen ponds of a brisk Missouri winter (the beer was released in December), the name of the beer is shown on color blocks that nod both to the colors in the Guild logo and to the hue of the beer itself. These elements – the Guild logo and an image of the beer in a chalice-style glass – are the only ones on the label outside the blue and silver palette.
